In the heart of Banhoek, where stone, forest, water and mountain light meet, ForestFall is a house made to experience.
It was designed and built by its owner, giving it a character that feels personal from the first room to the last. Raw concrete carries the marks of its making. Exposed brick, steel and dark walls bring strength and depth. Timber softens the harder edges throughout.
Rooms change in mood and material as you move between levels, yet each remains part of the same vision.
Three rooms. Three moods.
ForestFall sleeps up to six guests across three spacious bedrooms, each furnished with a large queen or king-size bed. The principal suite carries the depth and quiet of the forest — a mist-covered woodland stretches across the wall behind the timber platform bed. The second bedroom feels lighter and calmer, with soft green walls and white linen. The lower suite opens into a world of its own, combining a large sleeping area with an adjoining lounge and direct access to the garden deck.
Evenings begin around the island
The kitchen opens into the dining room, bar and lounge, allowing everyone to remain part of the same conversation. The handcrafted bar waits against a wall of exposed brick — timber shelving, mirrored glass and industrial lighting give it the atmosphere of a private drinking room hidden inside the house. The adjoining lounge offers a generous sectional sofa, a wood-burning stove, and broad glass doors opening towards the surrounding trees.
A fire beneath the trees
Close to the main lounge, a curved stone wall encloses a secluded courtyard. An arched timber door is set into the rockwork and a tall river-stone chimney rises above the terrace. This is ForestFall's outdoor braai space, sheltered beneath mature trees and separated from the contemporary lines of the house above. Late afternoon is its natural hour. A fire begins. Drinks gather on the stone ledges. The smell of woodsmoke moves through the garden while evening settles beneath the canopy.
At the top, the valley opens
The stairs rise through the house until the trees finally give way to sky. ForestFall's covered upper deck looks across cultivated slopes, vineyards and rugged mountain faces. Its built-in jetted spa sits within a raised timber platform beneath the roof, protected from the sun while remaining open to the mountain air. After the many levels, rooms and garden paths below, the upper deck feels like the final reveal. The house ends here. The view continues.
